Sticky Pictures' first primetime comedy series Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane has received three nominations at the 5th Annual AACTA Awards.
The show is nominated for Best Comedy Series and in an exciting twist Randy and Nathan Lovejoy (Borkman) are both nominated for Best Performance in a comedy. This marks the first time a puppet has been nominated for acting in the Aacta's - ever!
As Australia's highest film and television Awards, the AACTA Awards are Australia's equivalent of the Oscars and the BAFTAs. The AACTA Awards recognise film, television and documentary screen craft excellence - including screenwriting, producing and acting, through to cinematography, composition and costume design. The AACTA Awards are held annually in Sydney in recognition and celeb ration of Australia’s highest achievements in film and television, as judged by the industry itself.
The winner of Best Performance in a comedy will be announced 30 November and the Best Comedy Series award on December 9th, at The Star Event Centre, Sydney and broadcast on Channel Seven.
The nominations add to the critical acclaim the series has received since debuting in September. The show will launch in the US on NBC Universal’s new US comedy focussed subscription channel, SeeSo, launching in the US on January 1st 2016. Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane airs Wednesdays 935pm on abc with catch up on iview and itunes now available. The series will launch on DVD on November 25.
